Delta celebrates 20 years of connecting Ecuador to the world with Quito–Atlanta service
Delta marks two decades of service between Quito and Atlanta, expanding access to more than 300 destinations through its joint venture with LATAM.
Delta Air Lines is celebrating 20 years of service between Quito and Atlanta, a key route that has connected Ecuador to Delta’s global network since 2006—supporting tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Ecuador and the United States.
Over the past two decades, the Quito–Atlanta route has evolved alongside growing demand and changing customer expectations. What began with a Boeing 757 aircraft now operating with a Boeing 767-300, underscoring Delta’s continued investment in a more efficient, comfortable, and sustainable travel experience. The airline also transports cargo between the two markets, helping drive Ecuador’s export economy and strengthen bilateral trade.
Delta commemorated the milestone in Quito alongside government officials, tourism leaders, business partners, customers, and media. The event highlighted the role the route has played in expanding travel for business, leisure, education, and family connections—while supporting cargo movement through Delta’s global logistics network. Today, the U.S. remains one of Ecuador’s most important international travel markets.
“Twenty years ago, we launched service to Quito with a clear vision of Ecuador’s importance within our South America network,” said Diego Ospina, Delta’s director of sales for South America. “Today, the Quito–Atlanta route continues to be a vital gateway—connecting customers to North America and beyond while supporting the growth of tourism, business, and trade. This anniversary reinforces our long-term commitment to the country and our confidence in its future.”
The celebration also spotlighted Delta’s continued focus on elevating the travel experience. In recent years, the airline has expanded its premium offering with Delta One and Delta Premium Select for long-haul international travel, along with access to Delta Sky Club and the new Delta One Lounge experience. SkyMiles members also benefit from fast, free Wi-Fi.
Delta Sync, the airline’s onboard digital platform, further enhances the journey by delivering a more personalized experience. Through Delta Sync Wi-Fi and seatback screens, customers can access curated entertainment, tailored recommendations, and exclusive offers—creating a seamless experience similar to streaming at home. Enhanced onboard dining and Missoni-designed amenity kits complete the premium experience.
“Celebrating 20 years of Quito–Atlanta service is a meaningful milestone for Delta and for our customers in Ecuador,” said Delia Ortega, Delta’s regional manager for Peru and Ecuador. “For two decades, this route has connected people to opportunities and experiences around the world through one of our most important hubs. We remain focused on delivering a more connected, innovative, and comfortable travel experience, while strengthening ties across the Americas through our partnership with LATAM.”
Delta’s joint venture with LATAM Airlines, launched in October 2022 and expanded to include Ecuador in 2024, has further enhanced connectivity for Ecuadorian customers. Together, the partners offer access to more than 300 destinations across North and South America, along with shared benefits such as mileage earning and redemption, reciprocal lounge access for eligible customers, and a more seamless travel experience across the region.
In addition, LATAM’s domestic network within Ecuador strengthens connectivity and links key business centers and high-demand leisure destinations where continued growth in both corporate and tourism travel is expected. This includes expanded routing options such as service from Quito to Miami and from Guayaquil to New York (JFK), further strengthening connectivity between Ecuador and the United States.
This milestone comes as the aviation industry continues to play a vital role in the recovery and growth of international travel. Delta remains committed to Ecuador—strengthening its presence and continuing to connect the country to the world through its leading global network and elevated travel experience.
