Delta reinforces its support to vulnerable youth in collaboration with Casa Alianza México
Delta provided service to Casa Alianza México, a refuge for at-risk youth. This tangible commitment propels the airline to be a strong partner to the communities in which its employees live, work and serve.
On April 22nd, a group of Delta Air Lines volunteers visited the facilities of Casa Alianza México, a Private Assistance Institution that contributes to the protection and care of children and adolescents at risk of abandonment, violence and exploitation. Delta employees joined forces with the organization to help the community and contribute to improving the living conditions of the young residents.
The authorities of the Tepepan headquarters in the south of the city, inaugurated in 2019, welcomed the Delta Air Lines volunteers who enjoyed painting bedrooms and beautifying the spaces for the teenagers who live there. For more than 25 years, Casa Alianza México has provided care and protection to vulnerable living in situations of social abandonment. The Institution’s programs include providing small homes in different parts of Mexico City, housing up to 80 children and adolescents per night, as well as a separate homes for 17 teenage mothers and 24 babies.
Maria Aramburo-Aguilar, Delta’s station manager, was in charge of coordinating this effort, along with the airline’s Community Engagement team. “With this action, we promote values such as solidarity, community and love,” said Aramburo-Aguilar. “We want to generate a positive impact in the lives of young people who have gone through difficult situations and, at the same time, encourage all Delta employees to get involved with the community."
Other Delta volunteers who pitched in to help included the airline’s sales team and staff at Mexico City International Airport (AICM), who worked together to collect and donate essential cleaning products, personal hygiene items and essential stationery, which will significantly contribute to the well-being and educational development of these teenagers at the elementary and high school levels.
Donations were collected at the Delta office in Mexico City. This internal donation campaign began on March 15th and ended on April 17th. It reflects the spirit of solidarity of Delta’s amazing collaborators, who have shown continuous commitment to Casa Alianza's cause in previous years. Donations were delivered the day after the collection ended.
"This effort reflects our commitment not only to the present but to the future of our community," said Livier Bustos, Delta's sales manager in Mexico. "By supporting these young people, we contribute to building a more participative and solidary society. We are proud to be able to make a difference in their lives."
On behalf of Casa Alianza, Diana Tellez, donation coordinator, commented, "Delta's generosity and support for our young people is a clear example of how collaboration between organizations can generate real positive impact. We are grateful for this initiative that will provide our adolescents with essential tools for their development and well-being."
Delta's team in Mexico has collaborated in past initiatives organized by Delta partner Air France-KLM and travel agencies like FCM (Casa del Adulto Mayor del Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado, ISSSTE). Delta and Casa Alianza México’s present collaboration includes an open invitation to the entire community to take part in future initiatives that seek to improve the living and education conditions of vulnerable and at-risk young people.
