FAQ

Does Delta have free Wi-Fi?

  • Yes; Delta has already equipped nearly 1,300 aircraft – more than 95% of its fleet – with fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi. There is service available across the domestic network and a near-complete international footprint, with trans-Pacific routes coming online in October 2026 and full-fleet connectivity planned for early 2027.
  • Delta continues to invest in the connected onboard experience through added satellite capacity, hybrid network technology and future Amazon Leo connectivity.

How fast is Delta Wi-Fi?

  • Delta Sync Wi-Fi is designed to deliver streaming-quality connectivity on the vast majority of Wi-Fi-enabled flights, though the exact speed and consistency can vary by aircraft, route, geography, customer demand and satellite capacity. Today, most aircraft are offering high-speed, streaming-quality connectivity from gate to gate. There are still some pockets where performance is less consistent, particularly in certain high-demand or capacity-constrained regions, but Delta is actively adding satellite capacity and deploying new network technology to improve speed, stability and reliability.

Do I need to be a SkyMiles Member to use free Wi-Fi?

  • SkyMiles membership enables the free, personalized Delta Sync connected experience.
  • Customers who choose not to join may purchase Wi-Fi access where available, but personalized Delta Sync experiences require SkyMiles Membership. Product features, partner offers and availability may vary by aircraft, route and market.

Can I stream video on Delta Wi-Fi?

  • Generally speaking, yes. Delta Sync Wi-Fi is designed to deliver streaming-quality connectivity on the vast majority of Wi-Fi-enabled flights, though performance can vary by aircraft, route, geography, satellite coverage and how many customers are connected at a given time.

Does free Wi-Fi work internationally?

  • Yes. Fast, free Wi-Fi is available across Delta’s domestic network and on most international routes, including Europe, Israel, West Africa, Latin America and South Africa. Trans-Pacific routes will come online in October 2026, with full fleet connectivity planned by early 2027.

What should I do if DeltaWiFi.com does not open?

  • Make sure your device is in Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi is turned on and you are connected to the DeltaWiFi.com network.
  • If the page does not open automatically or if you see an error message, open a new browser window and type DeltaWiFi.com directly into the address bar.
  • If it still does not load, try turning Wi-Fi off and back on, closing and reopening your browser, or restarting your device.

Can I connect on multiple devices?

  • Yes. On Wi-Fi-enabled flights, SkyMiles Members can connect on multiple personal devices after logging in with their SkyMiles credentials.

Can I use a VPN on Delta Wi-Fi?

  • Yes.  You must sign in to the portal page prior to enabling your VPN.

Why might Wi-Fi feel slower on some flights than others?

  • Like any satellite-powered service, the onboard Wi-Fi experience can vary based on aircraft, route, geography, satellite coverage, weather, network demand and how many customers are connected at once. Delta is adding capacity and new network technology to improve speed, stability and consistency.

When will every Delta aircraft have free Wi-Fi?

  • Delta has already equipped more than 95% of its fleet with fast, free Wi-Fi. The remaining rollout continues across select aircraft, including regional and 717 fleets, with full fleet connectivity planned by early 2027.

What is Delta Sync, and is it different from Wi-Fi?

  • Delta Sync is the broader connected onboard experience for SkyMiles Members. Delta Sync Wi-Fi is the connectivity piece on personal devices, while Delta Sync seatback brings personalized entertainment, trip information and a smarter screen experience to equipped aircraft.

What are F2 and F3, and why do they matter to Delta?

  • F2 and F3 are Viasat-3 satellite assets intended to provide additional capacity and coverage. F2 supports the Americas and portions of the Atlantic, while F3 supports Pacific coverage. As integration progresses, the added capacity is expected to improve performance and support broader global connectivity.

When can Delta expect to see improvements from the F2 satellite?

  • F2 is important because it brings a significant amount of new satellite capacity to our network. While integration work is still underway, we’ve already seen meaningful performance improvements on aircraft when they’re connected to F2, and we expect those benefits to increase as more traffic is migrated onto the new capacity.

What is Hughes Fusion, and when will Delta customers experience it?

  • Hughes Fusion is an award-winning hybrid network architecture designed to simultaneously use two satellite networks (GEO/LEO). That approach is intended to provide greater flexibility and redundancy while supporting improved speed and lower latency. Delta is beginning deployment and will evaluate performance as it scales.
  • Deployment is moving along steadily on the 717 fleet, with additional installations planned on new delivery aircraft. We will share broader timing and customer-experience details as installation and performance validation progress.

Why did Delta choose to go with Amazon Leo?

  • Delta’s connectivity strategy is based on delivering the best overall customer experience over time, rather than selecting technology based on a single attribute or provider. That means evaluating performance, reliability, global coverage, flexibility, economics and how the technology can support a broader digital experience for customers.
  • A high-quality connectivity experience is the foundation of that strategy. We believe our long-term strategic partnership with Amazon Leo will provide high-bandwidth connectivity while creating opportunities to bring their broad ecosystem of entertainment and digital services to the skies.
