Los Angeles International Airport

Information about Delta's presence at its LAX hub

Delta Air Lines and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) have finished the second-to-last major phase of the Delta Sky Way at LAX project, with Terminal 3 now offering another entry point via the west headhouse as well as a dedicated check-in area for its Delta One customers.

Delta made a commitment to become L.A.’s premier, premium airline more than a decade ago and quickly became the fastest-growing airline at the airport. LAX continues to serve as one of Delta’s most important coastal hubs, operating more than 155 peak-day departures to 55 destinations across the globe, like Hawaii and Mexican beaches, as well as to 19 of the top 20 markets for LAX customers.

Recent Network Developments

Investments

Delta Air Lines and Los Angeles World Airports unveiled the final major phase of the years-long, $2.3 billion Delta Sky Way at LAX project in August 2023, with Terminal 3 at LAX now directly connected to the Tom Bradley International Terminal via moving airside walkways, officially eliminating the need for busing between terminals.

The airline’s west headhouse and Delta One check-in area opened to customers in June 2023, providing another entry check-in point for Delta One customers with an exclusive TSA screening lane.

Delta’s new Terminal 3, a 1.2-million-square-foot, 27-gate complex, debuted last April, featuring a centralized check-in lobby, expanded security checkpoint and baggage claim area, as well as a state-of-the-art Delta Sky Club, one of the largest in Delta’s system. Nine additional new gates, new concessions and spacious seating areas opened to customers in October 2022.

On March 29, Delta Air Lines and Los Angeles World Airports celebrated the completion of the first major phase of the Delta Sky Way at LAX – a joint $2.3 billion investment to modernize and upgrade one of the airline’s key global hubs.

Airport Experience

Debuted in 2021 at the airline’s Detroit and Atlanta hubs, Delta Digital ID provides customers with a seamless, hands-free way to navigate the airport. This industry-leading technology expanded to LAX in December 2023. Delta Digital ID uses biometric facial matching to eliminate the need for an agent-facilitated document check, allowing customers to move through bag drop and security checkpoints with more convenience and ease.

Delta Sky Club

LAX features two Delta Sky Clubs. With both Clubs operational, approximately 800 guests can enjoy the lounges simultaneously.

At over 30,000 square feet, the Delta Sky Club on Terminal 3, the newest Club at LAX, is one of the largest in the Delta network, with ample space for guests to retreat, relax and recharge. This Club features:

  • Five self-service kiosk stations for check-in.
  • A year-round, all-weather Sky Deck where guests can enjoy drinks from the premium bar and panoramic views of downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood Hills.
  • Seating options for a wide variety of travelers, including private phone booths for quiet work and theater-style seating for viewing the media wall.
  • Spacious shower rooms.
  • The Gallery at LAX, which features pieces curated through Delta Sky Club’s art program and include digital creations, sculpture and large-scale mixed media works featuring local L.A. artists.

Delta One Lounge

Delta customers can now enjoy the premium lounge experience on the west coast with the opening of the LAX Delta One Lounge, featuring an exclusive outdoor terrace. Opened in Oct. 2024, the 10,000-plus-square-foot space is directly accessible by elevator from the Delta One check-in area and includes a wellness area, a sushi bar, food and beverage service at every seat, and more.
