New AI innovation helps Delta people deliver record bag handling performance.
Delta people pioneered new AI-powered technology on the ramp at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL). The platform, Baggage AI, delivers an optimized driving route, ensuring as many customers’ bags as possible make their flights.
NBC News’ Tom Costello recently rode along with Delta Ramp Agent Michael Davis to learn more. Michael has been instrumental in the rollout of the tool. He is an 11-year Delta employee and has been recognized multiple times as ATL Driver of the Month.
“AI puts everything in order for me, giving me the opportunity to prioritize which bags get delivered first,” said Michael.
During peak travel periods like Thanksgiving, Delta carries more than 380,000 bags for our customers each day, with more than 99% arriving on time.
“We make sure that our customers can travel with peace of mind,” said Richard Cox, Senior Vice President – Airport Customer Service.
