Delta to spotlight and elevate six emerging artists in Miami during art week
As a connector of people to places, passions and their own potential, Delta is partnering with six artists with deep ties to Miami to bring their art to life and elevate their work against the backdrop of one of the art world’s most sought-after and exclusive events.
Delta is heading to the hot Miami art scene and bringing six up-and-coming artists along for the ride.
Miami’s rich culture and energetic lifestyle will set the stage for talented artists from around the world to showcase and celebrate their work during the first week of December. As a connector of people to places, passions and their own potential, Delta is partnering with six artists with deep ties to Miami to bring their art to life and elevate their work against the backdrop of one of the art world’s most sought-after and exclusive events.
“Delta is taking flight to the Miami art world, and there is no better way to connect with this city than through our talented artist partners who work in this community and call it home,” said Delta Chief Marketing Officer Alicia Tillman. “It is a privilege to showcase the work of these artists alongside our brand in a dynamic and vibrant environment like Miami and further our efforts to uplift and elevate partners with a unique perspective.”
Alongside Creative Director of UTA Fine Arts Arthur Lewis, Delta will host events both in the air and on the ground, starting with an immersive charter flight and concluding with a bespoke open-air gallery event to close out the week.
"As we embark on this artistic journey celebrating six Miami-based artists, we will elevate creativity to new heights through our bespoke airborne gallery and on-the-ground exhibition that mirrors the fusion of imagination and innovation, reshaping the art experience,” said Lewis. “Delta's dedication to uplifting local narratives resonates with Miami’s vibrant spirit, and I am honored to host this convergence, where art transcends boundaries and takes flight."
On Wednesday, Dec. 6, Delta will take flight to Miami on its invite-only, art-themed charter departing from JFK. The flight will carry members of Delta’s artist collective, along with creatives, journalists, curators and more. The plane will be turned into an immersive art gallery in the sky, projecting the artwork from each artist on the overhead bins throughout the flight, creating a new canvas for their work to be seen – this time 30,000 feet in the air.
Once in Miami, Delta will celebrate these artists again at an open-air gallery showcasing their work. The gallery will feature pieces by each artist, created from decommissioned plane parts and reimagined through their unique artistic lens. It will open on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1111 Lincoln Road and be available to the public from 4-6 p.m. Set in an open-air venue suspended above the city, the event will draw inspiration from a variety of related brand touchpoints, including Delta’s planes, the spirit of the open skies and our enduring Keep Climbing philosophy.
MEET THE ARTISTS
Derek Abella@derekabellaBorn in Miami and now based in New York, Derek Abella is an illustrator who pulls from his Cuban-American and queer experience to create dream-like representations of a variety of subjects, ranging from technology to politics to relationships between people, their surroundings, their memories, and each other.
Elliot & Erick Jiménez@elliotanderickElliot & Erick Jiménez are first-generation Cuban-Americans and identical twins born and raised in Miami from Cuban immigrants, now living and working between Miami and New York. Their photographic practice began from an early passion for art history and influences derived from a theological upbringing. Inspired by paintings, their work portrays the ephemeral nature of light and color through movement and the composition of their subjects, typically rendering them like a painting.
Emmett Moore@emmettmooreEmmett Moore is a Miami-based artist and designer known for a technically rigorous interdisciplinary approach that challenges notions of functionality and fluctuates seamlessly between design and art examining our relationship with the built environment. Moore’s work utilizes processes taken primarily from architecture and industrial design, working with found forms of everyday objects to speak to the universality and timelessness of the utilitarian and quotidian.
Jillian Mayer@jillian_mayer_Jillian Mayer is an artist and filmmaker. Through videos, sculptures, online experiences, photography, performances, and installations, Mayer explores how technology affects our lives, bodies, and identities by processing how our physical world and bodies are impacted and reshaped by our participation in various landscapes. Mayer investigates the points of tension between our online and physical worlds and makes work that attempts to inhabit the increasingly porous boundary between the two.
Olivia Pedigo@oliviapediOlivia Pedigo, a 23-year-old Miami native, is a 3D artist, animator, and graphic designer. Over the past four years, Olivia's work has evolved to reflect a dreamscape where comfort and isolation intersect, notably seen in her "bedroom pieces." These scenes, devoid of human presence yet filled with character, explore the relationship between individuals and their possessions, with a focus on technology. |

DELTA AND EMERGING TALENT
With a goal to support and uplift emerging talent on a global stage, Delta’s activation in Miami will build upon last year’s “Runway Runway” event during L.A. Fashion Week. That event – launched in partnership with multi-hyphenate artist Issa Rae – highlighted six small business owners and fashion designers through a collaborative fashion show and product showcase. With the exposure from the show, many of these designers grew their platforms, gained exposure to new audiences and sold out the special collections they presented at the show.
