Shamik Banerjee, V.P. - Airport Operations JFK

Shamik Banerjee serves as the Vice President – Airport Operations, JFK. In this role, Shamik is responsible for JFK operations, leading a team of over 3,000 Airport Customer Service employees operating 225 peak-day departures. JFK operates Delta’s largest transatlantic schedule serving 97 destinations worldwide. Shamik’s team also manages the system’s largest ground handling operation for many of Delta’s SkyTeam partners. Shamik reports to Richard Cox, Senior Vice President – Airport Customer Service (ACS). 

Shamik previously served as Managing Director, Airport Operations at JFK. During that time, he was instrumental in supporting our people and the JFK leadership team in winning Delta’s Hub of the Year award. He has also served as Managing Director – Below Wing Operations, ATL. During his tenure at ATL, he developed and directed strategic plans to ensure operational excellence for our largest domestic and international operations team.  

Since joining Delta in 2007, Shamik has gained deep operational and leadership experience through roles in Revenue Management, Operations Analysis and Performance (OAP), TechOps and Pilot Crew Resources and Planning. His performance-driven, collaborative approach has helped him to succeed in solving many complex challenges.  
   
Shamik holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Iowa. Before joining Delta, he worked at Northwest Airlines and Tata Motors Group.
