Two years of fast, free Wi-Fi: New experiences with DraftKings, YouTube, more access coming this year

The majority of Delta’s 200M+ yearly customers have access to fast, free Wi-Fi today. With exclusive linkups with YouTube, DraftKings and more on the way, SkyMiles Members have much to look forward to onboard in 2025.

Today, the majority of Delta’s 200M+ annual customers have access to industry-leading fast, free Wi-Fi to browse, stream and game in ways that fit how they want to travel. Each month, more aircraft enter service with fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi domestically with expansion to international routes well underway—unprecedented scale that remains unmatched. 

“Delta is constantly listening to our customers and evolving to meet their needs,” said Julieta McCurry, VP of In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity. “We know they want an in-flight experience similar to what they have at home, including more ways to engage and stay entertained – which is why we’re excited to continue scaling Delta Sync products and bring even more to the experience soon, including expected collaborations with brands like YouTube and DraftKings.” 

But Delta isn’t stopping there. Read on for three takeaways from two years of fast, free Wi-Fi and a glimpse of what’s in store for 2025. 

More industry-leading partnerships 

New and exclusive collaborations are coming to Delta Sync Wi-Fi in 2025, including an expected collaboration with DraftKings and a recently announced partnership with YouTube. 

Delta is exploring a first-of-its-kind collaboration with DraftKings, a leading digital sports entertainment gaming and technology company—which we expect to come soon to Delta Sync Wi-Fi.1 The potential collaboration contemplates that eligible SkyMiles Members can access free gaming as an additional offering on Delta Sync Wi-Fi available through SkyMiles Members’ personal electronic devices. The Delta Sync experience does not include gaming of any kind using real money or miles.2 

Through a new partnership with YouTube, SkyMiles Members will soon enjoy their favorite creators, podcasts and music artists ad-free while onboard most flights with Delta Sync Wi-Fi and Delta Sync seatback as part of their in-flight entertainment. This partnership underscores Delta’s dedication to bringing the at-home entertainment experience to the sky.

More aircraft with streaming-speed connectivity and personalized entertainment 

Delta is the industry leader in in-flight entertainment and connectivity, with fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi on more than 880 aircraft today—bringing streaming-quality connectivity to the sky at an unmatched scale.  

Delta expects to offer the service to customers traveling its highest-volume international routes by this summer. Aircraft operating regional routes will be equipped with updated connectivity technology later this year.   

Customers can also enjoy Delta Sync seatback—the new, personalized in-flight entertainment experience now found on more than 330 aircraft today. Delta leads the industry with more than 165,000 seatback screens across its global fleet. Delta Sync seatback brings real time trip notifications and personalized recommendations to logged-in customers, with a slate of new features planned for the years ahead. 

Delta teams have been hard at work with our satellite partners ensuring each aircraft has the best technology onboard to deliver the consistent and reliable experience customers expect at scale across our global network.

Deepened engagement with SkyMiles 

Two years of fast, free Wi-Fi on Delta has reinforced what the airline knew to be true when it went “all-in” on free Wi-Fi and seatback screens: connectivity and entertainment are more valued than ever, with customers that are increasingly digital savvy and seeking personalized experiences.  

In just two years, more than 3.5 million new SkyMiles Members have joined the program just through accessing Delta Sync Wi-Fi. These new Members are disproportionally younger than average base Members – 5 to 7 years on average – and Millennials and Gen Z now make up 60% of all Delta Sync Wi-Fi users.  

This shift underscores why Delta is committed to evolving the in-flight entertainment experience with digital entertainment options that resonate and meet customers where they are. It’s all part of Delta’s commitment to making their SkyMiles Membership an even more relevant part of customers’ everyday lives, even beyond their day of travel.   

“SkyMiles Members can expect something fun and unexpected each time they fly with us, along with the freedom to choose how they want to spend their time onboard in a way that suits them,” said McCurry.    

1 Delta Sync Wi-Fi is only accessible to customers with a SkyMiles account. For SkyMiles members under 21 years of age, Delta will exclude the DraftKings offering in the Delta Sync Wi-Fi experience.
