Over the past few weeks, many of you have shared feedback about the changes we announced to Delta’s SkyMiles Program.
I have read hundreds of your emails, and what’s been most clear to me is how much you love Delta and the disappointment many of you felt by the significance of the changes. I appreciate your opinions and understand your disappointment. Your voice matters, and we are listening.
Your concerns largely centered around the accessibility of Medallion Status, the limitations on Delta Sky Club access and the need for greater recognition of our long-term loyal customers. As I have said in the past, it’s been a challenge to balance the growth of our membership with our need to deliver premium service experiences. Since the pandemic, our SkyMiles Medallion population has grown meaningfully. In fact, many of you have acknowledged this, and the need for change, in your emails. We made some difficult program decisions to address this issue and ensure we are delivering elevated service to our Members. But your response made clear that the changes did not fully reflect the loyalty you have demonstrated to Delta. Based on your feedback, we are making program adjustments and adding new benefits to begin earning in 2024 toward your 2025 status:
Making Medallion Status More Accessible:
We will reduce the proposed number of Medallion Qualifying Dollars (MQDs) needed to earn 2025 Medallion Status.
- Silver Medallion Status: from 6,000 to 5,000 MQDs
- Gold Medallion Status: from 12,000 to 10,000 MQDs
- Platinum Medallion Status: from 18,000 to 15,000 MQDs
- Diamond Medallion Status: from 35,000 to 28,000 MQDs
Greater Flexibility for Delta Sky Club Access:
We know how much you value the Delta Sky Club experience and will increase access for Members with a Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business American Express Card. These changes will go into effect starting February 1, 2025.
- Card Members will now receive 15 days per year (up from 10 visits); all visits made in a 24-hour period will count as one day.
- Card Members will also be able to purchase Club access for $50 per day after using all allotted days.
- Card Members can earn unlimited Delta Sky Club access after spending $75,000 on an eligible card in a calendar year.
- Medallion Members also have the option of purchasing an annual individual Delta Sky Club membership for $695.
More Options for MQM Rollover Balances:
We have heard from many Members who had long-term plans for their Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQM) Rollover balances. Customers with high balances will receive special multi-year options to extend their Status, including the ability to choose complimentary Medallion Status at your current tier for one year per every 100,000 MQMs.
More Recognition and Rewards for Long-Term Loyalty:
We want our long-term loyalists to know how much you’re truly appreciated. Effective February 1, 2024, we are significantly upgrading annual Complimentary Status achievement levels for all Million Milers.
- 6M+ from Diamond Medallion to Delta 360o™
- 5M from Platinum Medallion to Delta 360o™
- 4M from Platinum Medallion to Diamond Medallion
- 3M from Gold Medallion to Diamond Medallion
- 2M from Gold Medallion to Platinum Medallion
- 1M from Silver Medallion to Gold Medallion
More information about these and other changes – including new and enhanced Choice Benefits for Platinum and Diamond Medallion Members and MQD head starts for eligible Delta SkyMiles Card Members – will be shared with you shortly in an email from Dwight James, our S.V.P. of Customer Engagement & Loyalty.
Your loyalty matters. When I read your emails, you clearly expressed how much Delta is part of your lifestyle. I greatly appreciate that, and we don’t take it lightly. Our investment in your experience will always be at the heart of everything we do. I know the modifications we have made won’t solve for every disappointment. Our goal is to do our best to ensure we deliver the service and benefits your loyalty deserves.
Thank you for the trust you place in us. We will continue to earn it every day.
Delta is simplifying its SkyMiles Program, with Medallion Qualification Dollars serving as the only qualifier for Medallion Status. Here are several things you should remember about the program and what changes for you.
Delta’s award-winning SkyMiles Program will use MQDs as the single qualifier toward Medallion Status and offer new and enhanced ways to earn Status – both on the ground and in the air. The airline will also make changes to Delta Sky Club access for some American Express Card Members.
Delta SkyMiles® Members can now get even more out of a dream trip with Delta Vacations, thanks to major program enhancements that begin Monday.

As CEO of Delta Air Lines, Ed Bastian leads a team of 90,000 global professionals that is building the world’s premier international airline, powered by a people-driven, customer-focused culture and spirit of innovation.
There’s an energy in the air. It’s a feeling of joy and anticipation for the summer ahead. And with more than 1,500 weekly flights to 80 international cities this season, including brand-new routes like New York-JFK to Geneva and Atlanta to Nice, the world is ripe for exploration.
We deeply value the trust you place in us to get you to your destination safely and on time. We’ve spent months preparing for this busy travel season, investing heavily to ensure our team of 90,000 worldwide is ready to deliver a reliable, high-quality experience, paired with the signature warmth and compassion you’ve come to expect when you fly with us.
Whether you’re embarking on a new adventure or returning to a favorite summer spot, here are some things to look forward to this season.
A MORE CONNECTED JOURNEY
Fast, free Wi-Fi is now available on most domestic flights, so as a SkyMiles Member, you can browse, stream or message just like you would on the ground. And as our Delta Sync Exclusives experience rolls out, you’ll soon be able to unlock even more relevant and tailored content, plus other offers from brands you know and love. We also have the most seatback screens of any U.S.-based carrier by far, with countless options to keep you entertained. And you can expect to see free Wi-Fi on all international and regional flights by the end of 2024.
Starting in June, you can also look for a special documentary on board called “The Steepest Climb.” It’s a behind-the-scenes story featuring the heroic efforts of Delta people to carry us safely through the pandemic. It’s a project that’s near and dear to my heart, and I’d encourage you to give it a viewing while you’re on board.
AN ELEVATED EXPERIENCE, ON THE GROUND AND IN THE AIR
If you’ve flown through Los Angeles, Chicago-O’Hare or New York-LaGuardia lately, you’ve experienced first-hand the investments that we’ve made to transform our airports from coast to coast. We’ve also taken measures to reduce the volumes in our Delta Sky Clubs, including robust expansion plans and beautiful new Clubs in Minneapolis, Chicago and Kansas City, with a second Club in New York-JFK opening later this summer. And we’re trying out a new “on the go” Club experience in select cities, a convenient food and beverage option for Delta Sky Club customers who are short on time.
On board, we’re delivering purpose-driven products that are better for you, our communities and the planet. We’ve introduced healthy snacks across the plane and kid-friendly meals for our youngest travelers. In Delta Premium Select, we’re now serving Delta One-inspired meals on eco-conscious dining ware and have expanded our popular, artisan-crafted Someone Somewhere amenity kits that have helped bring more than 1 million hours of paid work to rural communities in Mexico. And if you’re looking to treat yourself, customers flying in Delta One can enjoy premium rosé and the return of our beloved dessert cart on international flights.
DIGITAL TOOLS FOR A SMOOTH JOURNEY
There are many tools available right at your fingertips to ensure a smooth journey, and to assist you if your plans change. You can adjust your flight directly in the Fly Delta app, on delta.com, or by using our Messaging feature for more assistance. The Fly Delta app will also allow you to check in, select or upgrade your seat on most flights, and get your boarding pass to make your travel day that much simpler.
At the airport, keep an eye out in select cities for digital ID lanes that enable a touchless experience as you check bags and move through security with TSA PreCheck.
As we continue to elevate Delta’s world-class travel experience, our top priority has never changed: That you arrive at your destination safe, on time, with your bags – having experienced the warmth and professionalism of our people along the way. Last year Cirium recognized Delta as the most on-time airline in North America for the second year in a row – a strong foundation we’ve built on to ensure a great summer ahead.
We’ve recruited and trained more than 25,000 Delta people to meet the rise in demand and have incorporated learnings from last summer into our crew scheduling, with more pilots standing by to fly when needed. We’ve invested heavily in aircraft maintenance in key cities around the world so we can more quickly address any mechanical issues to get you on your way. And we’re continuing to partner with the Federal Aviation Administration to help minimize delays and cancels due to weather and congested airspace.
We’re ready to serve you this summer, and we can’t wait to see you in the skies. Thank you for your continued loyalty and the trust you place in us to connect you to the people and places you love most.
Sincerely,
